The muralist Richard Wyatt was born in Lynwood, raised in Compton, and attended UCLA—a confirmed Angeleno, you could say. Over at KCET, poet/blogger/exuberant tour guide Mike Sonksen recently wrote an LA Letters piece about Wyatt’s prolific work, spread throughout our far-reaching city. With an 80-foot mural at Union Station, two works in the Purple Line’s Wilshire/Western station, and one on the 110 Freeway, chances are good that you’re already familiar with the artist’s work. With help from the Mural Conservancy of Los Angeles’s website, we’ve mapped out 10 of the murals you’ve probably already seen but didn’t know were Wyatt’s.
