The filings with the Department of City Planning show that, among other variances, the developers are asking to build the hotel (located at 631 to 635 Spring Street) without adding new parking space. Instead, they plan to make use of other parking lots and structures nearby. They would also be including 18 bike parking spaces in the hotel.

The agent on the planning filing is listed as—and this is real—Lizard In Los Angeles, LLC. That entity is connected to Lizard Capital, a self-described “boutique investment firm” whose website advertises an LA development called “Lizard In Los Angeles.” The Lizard In (ha!) will “focus on design and culture, oriented towards high-end domestic and international business travellers.”

According to the site, the hotel is shooting for a 2017 opening. It joins a slew of other tall projects heading toward the Historic Core, like the 33-story tower near Grand Central Market, a 40-story tower planned for just a block north of here along Spring Street, and a 38-story high-rise at Sixth and Main.
