One of the most high-profile new elements of the mall will be an outdoor event area (“The Terrace”), which the video suggests will be hosting a lot of fashion shows. There’ll also be 70 new shops and restaurants, eight acres of outdoor space, and 4,700 parking spaces (double the current total). Overall, the new addition will add 422,000 square feet to Westfield Century City; when complete, the mall will take up 1.2 million square feet.
There were once plans for a 39-story, 262-unit residential building next door to the mall, but Westfield has scaled those way back—Urbanize LA says that an official site for the project notes that an adjacent “15-story, 20-unit residential tower” is still in the works.
