For now, the details are still pretty slim on the future hotel. A broker representing the building’s sellers says that Hoxton is “underway on plans for the hotel,” but has no more information. The sellers, a shell company fueled by a group of investors, had themselves once considered turning the decrepit structure into “a roughly 150-bed hotel, [with] a rooftop lounge and pool and a basement bar or night club.”

The edifice, which has upper level offices (empty for decades) and groundfloor retail (shopkeepers “recently left in preparation for the upcoming redevelopment”), was once the headquarters for Henry Huntington’s Los Angeles Railway (Yellow Cars), a predecessor to what’s now Metro. Hoxton paid $30 million for the place, but has a lot of work to do to turn the mostly graffiti-filled structure into a hotspot.
