Given the wild proliferation of seven-story mixed users springing up Downtown and South Park, developers are now confronted with the challenge of distinguishing their mixed-user from the crowd. Now, Houston-based developer Hanover has just unveiled a collection of 20 “eco-green” apartments within its new 263-unit Hanover Olympic building on S. Olive, designed by TCA Architects.

Billed as LA’s “first solar-powered net-zero eco apartments,” each unit is powered by a system of ten dedicated solar panels fixed to the building’s roof, which produce enough kilowatt hours to power the apartment plus send energy back to the utility grid. Features include reclaimed wood floors, recycled glass countertops, energy performance windows, energy-tracking iPad Minis, and smart Nest thermostats, while the building’s amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, pool, a wine room with resident-only wine lockers, rooftop decks, screening rooms, an open-air loggia with HDTV lounge, pet grooming stations, and bike parking. Rent for the eco-green units ranges from $2,140 to $2,455 per month.
