Hitting the market for the first time in over 50 years is an intriguing time capsule in La Cañada Flintridge. Known as the Barneson Estate, it was designed in 1934 by architect Albert E. Hansen, who also designed Glendale’s City Hall as well as a number of upscale residences in Los Feliz. Listed in a trust sale, the property looks to be in fairly dilapidated condition, but it’s not hard to imagine it being reinvigorated — here’s hoping it finds a preservation-minded buyer!

A replica of a Scottish hunting lodge, the 4,448-square-foot home’s features include a rustic stone exterior and massive fireplace, beamed cathedral ceilings, and stained glass windows and doors.

The north wing of the home contains four bedrooms, with a fifth bedroom suite located in the southeast wing.

There are four full baths, but this sea foam-green one is the best.

The expansive grounds include a large pool with pool bar, mature landscaping with indigenous trees, and a two-car carport.

Asking price is $2.295 million.
