Located a few blocks east of Hollenbeck Park, this big blue Boyle Heights residence was built for Frederick J. Teale, a Civil War veteran who also served as a state senator for Iowa.

The American Foursquare-style property was constructed in 1888, when its street, as described by a neighborhood history, “was just a dirt road lined with pepper trees.” Today, it’s a short walk from the Metro Gold line.

Like the surrounding neighborhood, the vintage home has also undergone quite a bit of transformation in recent years. Per its listing, the 2,588-square-foot house boasts six bedrooms, three baths, 11-foot ceilings, pocket doors, leaded transoms with stained-glass inlays, Edison bulb chandeliers, new copper plumbing, new electrical wiring, a new kitchen, and a new roof with solar panels.

Additional features include a separate finished studio space, a one-car garage, a basketball court, garden boxes, and a swimming pool.

Last sold in 2010 for $370,000, the 8,193-square-foot property is now listed with an asking price of $815,000.
