Just across the street from Fern Dell entrance to Griffith Park is this 1922 mansion designed by Carleton Winslow, who helped finish the city’s beautiful Central Public Library when lead architect Bertram Goodhue died.

The house, advertised as an Italianate revival, sits behind a tall and recognizable orange-sherbet-colored stucco fence, offering privacy from busy Los Feliz Boulevard. Through the front door, there’s a grand staircase, a solarium, and a library. The house’s four bedrooms are upstairs and open onto “expansive private patios.”

The property sits on over a quarter acre lot, and the grounds include a koi pond, a fire pit, and multiple fountains. At the garden level, there’s also a “prohibition era” wine cellar, and though the listing copy doesn’t say how many bottles it holds, it does say it “can hold your entire wine collection.”

The house hasn’t been on the market since 1978. It’s now listed for $4.997 million.
