Scoot over Metropolis, there’s another huge residential and commercial development proposed for Downtown Los Angeles’s South Park neighborhood. Plans were filed Monday for a 714-tower at 11th and Olive streets with up to 800 condos above ground floor commercial and “amenity space.”
We’ve called Metropolis the King of Mixed Users in Downtown LA. It’s a collection of three towers that, when fully built, will hold 1,500 condos. But none of Metropolis’ towers soar to 714 feet—that’s lofty.
The new skyscraper would join the ranks Los Angeles’s tallest towers and would be a new addition to Downtown’s expanding skyline. To get a sense of just how tall it is, consider that the tallest building in LA, the Wilshire Grand, at 73 stories, is 1,100 feet and City National Tower, at 52 stories, is 699 feet.
Urbanize LA says the developer is Miami-based Crescent Heights, which, according to the Los Angeles Business Journal, acquired the half-acre site at 1045 South Olive Street, at the corner of 11th Street, last spring for $11.5 million. Crescent Heights is behind the set of 28-story towers set to rise right next to the historic Palladium in Hollywood.
