Lots of projects are proposed within Koreatown’s boundaries, and interest doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Plans were filed with the city Monday to put a 16-story, mixed-use project on a lot that measures just under one acre and sits at the southwest corner of Hobart Boulevard and 6th Street.

Plans for the site at 601 South Hobart and 3800 South 6th call for retail space at street level, a hotel on the second through seventh floors, and condos from the eighth floor up. Further details—such as how many condos or hotel rooms there will be—aren’t noted in the plans.

Just about a block away, at 6th and Harvard, another new building with a similar makeup—residential, retail, and hotel space—is planned. That one is planned to be only 10 stories tall and appears to be helmed by Urban Commons, the developer working on the overhaul of the Queen Mary and the area surrounding it. It’s not yet clear who the developer of this 16-story hotel and housing project is.

Two blocks away, near Harvard and 7th, a parking lot is expected to be replaced by a 110-room hotel and restaurant. Over by the Wiltern, another hotel is planned, in a complex with six restaurants. Whether these hotels will spell stiff competition for the trendy The Line hotel near Normandie and Wilshire remains to be seen.
