Planning documents released last week reveal new details about a major mixed use project headed for Wilshire Boulevard, near the border of Koreatown and Westlake.

One of the more intriguing projects in the development pipeline, plans for the building first surfaced in March of last year. Now, an initial study shows that the project will include 23 stories of housing above a seven story podium structure with housing, parking, and street-level retail.

The housing will include 227 studios, 293 one-bedroom units, and 124 two-bedroom units. Meanwhile, the commercial space on the bottom level will be divided up between 10,000 square feet of retail space and 5,500 square feet of restaurants.

Preliminary renderings show a glassy tower with rounded edges rising out of the rectangular podium. According to the study, parking within the podium will be concealed by exterior glass, glazing, and grillwork.

The look is certainly a bit different from a proposed design for the project by Hanson LA that we saw in May. Developer Jamison Services later confirmed that the firm would not be designing the project.

Jamison, which has been on quite a building streak in the Koreatown area lately, is codeveloping the project with Hankey Group, according to The Real Deal.

Once complete, the project will overlook Lafayette Park at Wilshire and Hoover. Plans show it will also include 64,440 square feet of open space for residents, including patios, barbecue areas, an event space, fitness room, pool and cabanas, a viewing deck, and even a dog park.
