It’s a fine day when a house designed by Cliff May pops up for sale in the more-affordable city to the south. Apparently we’re not the only ones who think so. This delightful three-bedroom dwelling in Long Beach was listed just four days ago for $799,000—and it’s already under contract.

May is often called the father of the California ranch home, and this house is a classic example of what he did best, designing bright houses that embrace the outdoors.

Built in 1954, it looks to be in fine condition with its pitched ceiling, statement rock fireplace, and abundant windows. Per the listing, the home originally held four bedrooms but one of those rooms was incorporated into the living room to create a more spacious living area.

Located in the Rancho Estates tract, on the northeast side of Long Beach, the home backs up to sprawling El Dorado Park.

If you’re smitten, there’s still hope—the property is accepting back-up offers.
