This delightful midcentury modern take on the ranch house was designed by architect John Andre Gugeon, whose other notable works include the fantastic 1975 Pasadena Presbyterian Church on Colorado Boulevard.

Located in the San Gabriel Valley community of Glendora, the two-bedroom house was built in 1963. It was designed to be part of a larger development, but it was only one of two homes that were ultimately constructed.

“Extensive” glass walls and high, clerestory windows in the house keep the minimal space looking open. The use of wood throughout keeps things from feeling sterile.

The master bedroom has access to the backyard and a lovely, step-down tiled tub in the spacious master bathroom. The L-shaped house’s placement on a corner lot “reflects [Gugeon’s] architectural training under USC’s Conrad Buff, Cal Straub, and Donald Hensman,” says the listing, referring to the namesakes of the noted Pasadena architectural firm Buff, Straub and Hensman.

The showpiece last sold in 2011 for $540,000. It’s now listed at $889,000.
