Our readers accuse us of ignoring the San Fernando Valley. It’s mostly true. Even though two-thirds of the region is part of the city of Los Angeles, home to more than 1.5 million Angelenos, we often focus more on real estate development and trends in Downtown, Central LA, and the Westside.

But for a week, starting today, we’re giving the Valley our full attention.

Over the next five days, we’ll tell you about its history and its role in ’80s pop culture. We’ll look to the future: Will “the original spawning grounds of Southern California suburbia” continue to be a refuge for residents seeking a slower pace and more affordable homes? And, we won’t ignore what’s happening there today, with a report on housing prices and guides to individual ’hoods.

We’ve already mapped out a week of stories that we’re eager to share, but if there’s a something you’d like us to look into, please send a note to our tip line (la@curbed.com).
