A major new project planned for booming Koreatown is moving right along after the Los Angeles City Council’s Planning and Land Use Management Committee signed off on the project Tuesday, sending it to the full council for final approval.
The mixed use development would replace a parking lot and a pair of office buildings at 3545 Wilshire Boulevard, right next to The Line Hotel. It would consist of a pair of residential towers—one rising 14 stories and the other 32 stories—built on either side of a podium structure with parking and commercial space.
All told, the project would have 428 condos, along with 31,689 square feet of retail space. The parking structure would have 864 spaces for cars and 652 spots for bicycles. According to project plans, amenities for residents would include community rooms, a gym, swimming pools, fire pits and barbecue areas, and “art installations.”
The project is being designed by local architecture firm Gruen Associates. Renderings show the towers will sport a glassy design, with long balconies for residents and rooftop decks with pool decks and a bit of greenery.
If approved by the council, the project would take about 29 months to construct.
It’s one of a legion of developments in the neighborhood proposed by prolific real estate firm Jamison Services. By our count, the developer has an astonishing eight other projects in various stages of development within a six block radius of this one.
