Nonprofit developer Hollywood Community Housing Corporation has plans for a new affordable housing complex in Arlington Heights that would bring 64 new units of housing to the area.
The 51,296-square-foot development would rise at the northeast intersection of Washington Boulevard and Wilton Place. It would include nine units for very low-income residents (those making under half the median income in the area), 53 units for low-income residents (those making less than 80 percent of the median income), and a pair of manager units.
The project would also have 63 parking spaces and 2,336 square feet of space for retail businesses.
Plans filed with the city Thursday show that HCHC plans to make use of new incentives for projects with affordable housing near transit stops (the development would be located close to multiple bus lines and within two miles of the Expo Line).
The incentives could allow the developer to build less parking for the project and make the building a bit denser than the area’s zoning rules would otherwise allow.
Approved by voters last year as part of the Measure JJJ ballot initiative, the incentives have proved popular with developers thus far. By our count, this is at least the 14th project to make use of them since they went into effect in September.
