Don’t ask us why, but actors Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof are moving on from this exquisite Spanish-style home in Santa Monica—complete with arched windows, balconies, and lush landscaping.

Hannigan (of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and How I Met Your Mother fame) and Denisof (of Buffy spinoff Angel) scooped up the 1930-built residence in 2002—for just under $2 million—and set about updating it with the help of designer Kristen Panitch, according to listing agent Ren Smith of Pacific Union International.

The 4,186-square-foot home has five bedrooms and five bathrooms, with interior design that strikes a nice balance between contemporary style and the home’s historic roots. Features include hardwood floors, built-in seating, French doors, and beamed ceilings.

The kitchen has been equipped with new appliances, countertops, and a large center island. It connects to a cozy breakfast area and a formal dining room.

With an impressive exterior that includes barrel-tile roofing and a dramatic tower, the house sits on an 8,742-square-foot lot. The home has an attached garage and gated driveway. In back is a grassy yard, along with a swimming pool, spa, and a winding wrought iron staircase that lends to the property’s romantic atmosphere.

Asking price is $5.1 million.
