We’re getting a better look at how the developers of the Crossroads of the World redevelopment would weave the newly landmarkedThe Hollywood Reporter building into their plan to remake a roughly two-block stretch of Sunset Boulevard.

A representative for Harridge Development Group tells Curbed that it’s too early to say what uses the 1930s building will hold.

A hearing notice for the project posted last month revealed that the one-time home of the revered industry magazine would be preserved and incorporated into the major project reshaping the retro Crossroads of the World storefronts.

Prior to that, the building’s fate had been uncertain. Original plans for the Crossroads redevelopment called for the building and others to be razed. Efforts to have the structure declared a city landmark had been successful, but that status doesn’t explicitly save a property from demolition.

Harridge has announced a few other changes to the project along with the THR building’s inclusion in the project, including the addition of 21 affordable units, for a total of 105.

Developers also cut from the project an earlier plan to realign Las Palmas through the project (earlier plans had called for the street to be altered to cut through the block more diagonally).

The Crossroads of the World redevelopment would bring 950 apartments and condos, a 308-room hotel, and 190,000 square feet of commercial space to the property. The project, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Rios Clementi Hale Studios, would include buildings reaching 26, 30, and 32 stories in height.

The development would also include the preservation and rehabilitation of the Crossroads of the World complex, which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is a city Historic-Cultural Monument.
