Playa Vista is neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, CA is home to approximately 6,000 residents according to the City of LA Planning Dept.
The bordering communities to Playa Vista are: Westchester, Del Rey, Culver City and Marina Del Rey. Formerly this land was occupied by the Tongva Native American Indian tribe.
In the 1940’s Howard Hughes owned the parcel of land and constructed an airport. The Spruce Goose was built in a hangar there and then transported to Long Beach for its one and only flight in 1947.
The Spruce Goose was supposedly the tallest and had largest wingspan of any airplane in history.
